Data We Collect\n- **Identity:** first name, last name (used to associate alerts and verification records with their owner)\n- **Age confirmation:** a single boolean self-certification that you are 18 years or older (no full date of birth is collected from new sign-ups)\n- **Government identity documents:** Trinidad & Tobago National ID **or** Passport — uploaded only when you choose to verify a vehicle. Used solely to confirm the identity of the user submitting a vehicle ownership claim. **Never displayed publicly.**\n- **Vehicle ownership documents:** Certified Copy, Vehicle Registration Certificate, **or** Insurance Certificate — uploaded only when you choose to verify a vehicle. Used solely to confirm that the vehicle plate number you registered in the app is connected to you. **Never displayed publicly.**\n- **Contact:** email address, optional phone number\n- **Account:** username, public display name, profile picture\n- **Vehicles:** license plate, make, model, year, colour, VIN, ownership-proof documents, photos\n- **Activity:** alerts you create, sightings you report, recoveries you confirm\n- **Location:** device location when you report an incident or sighting (requires your consent each time)\n- **Device:** IP address, device model, OS version, app version (for fraud prevention and diagnostics)\n\n## 2. How We Use Your Data\n- Power the core service (alerts, sightings, community feed, maps)\n- Verify your identity and vehicle ownership using the government ID and vehicle ownership document you upload. **Document review is performed by StolenWatchTT admin staff and/or automated content-recognition technology under admin supervision.** Documents are used only for verification.\n- Send push notifications for alerts in your area\n- Moderate the platform and prevent abuse / fraud\n- Comply with legal obligations\n\n## 3. What We Show Publicly\nOnly your **public display name** (your chosen username, e.g. *@john_smith*, **or** your first name only) appears alongside your community activity. **We never display your full name, last name, email, phone, government ID document, or vehicle ownership document publicly.** Other community members cannot see your uploaded verification documents.\n\n## 4. Data Sharing\n- We do **not** sell your personal data.\n- We do **not** use your data for advertising or tracking.\n- Alert details (plate, make, model, reported location) are shared with the community to help recovery — this is the core purpose of the service.\n- We may share data with the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service or other authorities in response to a court order, subpoena, or written request from TTPS under the Criminal Procedure Act or any other applicable law.\n\n## 5. Children's Data\nStolenWatchTT is **not directed at children under 18** and we knowingly do not collect information from them. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that an underage person has registered, they may contact **stolenwatchtt@gmail.com** for immediate account removal and data deletion.\n\n## 6. Verification Documents — Access Control\nUploaded government ID documents and vehicle ownership documents are stored in private object storage with admin-only access. Each admin view of a verification document is recorded in an internal audit log. Documents are never included in public API responses, push notifications, downloadable PDFs that are not admin-only, or anywhere visible to other community members.\n\n## 8. Security\nPasswords are stored using **bcrypt hashing with random salts**. Traffic is encrypted end-to-end over TLS 1.2+. Uploaded documents are stored in our secure object-storage service.\n\n## 9.
